From their first birthday to 18 months old, babies will make huge strides in their development. They’ll go from taking a few unsteady steps to walking confidently. They’ll also start saying at least a few recognizable words.
Both of these developments help children to feel they have more control over their world. The right toys will challenge them to develop more and more skills without being frustratingly difficult.
From 9 months to 12 months, babies are growing, changing and developing in every way: physically, socially, cognitively and emotionally. Many of them will begin to walk at this age and perhaps talk too. Certainly they will understand a lot more of what you say, even if they don’t yet answer.
So you can start to vary their toys much more now. The best baby toys 9 months to 12 months old will concentrate on developing either their walking skills, or their fine motor and hand co-ordination, language, or ideas and understanding. Some toys may have more than one of these functions but there’s no toy that does everything any more.
Between 6 and 9 months babies are starting to want to get into everything. Most babies start crawling around age 6 months, although some never crawl on their hands and knees and this is nothing to worry about. They may find other ways to get around or they may go straight to walking.
But for most babies, you’ll find they’re able to move surprisingly far and fast at this age when your back is turned! They’re very interested in discovering more about their world and like to interact with everything. They haven’t yet learned about danger so you’ll need to keep a close watch on them.
Babies are growing fast between 3 months and 6 months. You’ll notice big changes in your baby’s development at this time. They’ll respond more to your voice, face and even your emotions. They’ll also start to recognize and identify objects.
The world is becoming a more understood place to babies at this age. Let’s look at the types of toys that are best for their development now.
The life of a baby is full of excitement and discovery, and you can help this process along with the best baby toys for their age group. We have some suggestions for the best baby toys newborn to 3 months in this article.
In the first 3 months a baby gets acquainted with his or her family members and home. It’s a wonderful but tiring time for a newborn and they need a lot of sleep!
During their waking hours, they love to be stimulated with toys. If you can play with them at the same time, that’s an extra bonus. Otherwise the little ones won’t know what to do with toys. They will likely just look.
Newborns change so fast, you’ll want to be getting them different toys almost every week! Let’s take a look at baby toys for new babies month by month.
