Review of Recycling Truck by Green Toys
If you want your child to have fun and learn about the modern world and the environment at the same time, this recycle truck from Green Toys looks like a great choice.
Trucks are always fun for kids and they can load and unload this one while they play. But is there a downside? Let’s take a closer look.
* Recycling bed tilts backward
* No metal axles for safe play
* Truck and packaging are fully recyclable
* Truck is made from recycled plastic milk jugs
* Age 12 months – 10 years (we think 6 years)
Green Recycling Truck Review
You’ll notice the design of the Green Toys recycling truck right away. It’s big and chunky and it’s a very natural, ‘eco-friendly’ green color. Kids will be attracted to it without being overstimulated by excessively bright colors. It looks real friendly and makes a great toy for any caring home or homey environment.
It’s a large truck (approx 15 x 6 x 7 inches) perfect for younger kids to hold, although it doesn’t have that ‘toddler’ look that makes older kids shun some toys. Garbage trucks are big so it seems realistic and kids can play with other toys along with it. For example an action man could become a garbage man without being ten times the size of the truck!
It has some moving parts although not as many as some older kids might expect. The rear doors open and close and the recycling bed tilts up so you can dump stuff out of it.
The front doors don’t open and nor do the recycling chutes on the side. The idea of the chutes is that kids can push things into the slots (as illustrated in the picture) and then dump them out of the back.
The truck comes with cardboard cutouts representing household items that fit into the chutes. Older kids will be able to match these up to the right chute (each one is labeled differently). Babies and little kids probably won’t get much use for these items but they will happily just load things through the back doors.
Some customers have had trouble with the wheels not rolling on laminate floors. The wheels seem to need something to grip. Some parents say it works best outside in the yard. However, other customers have not had trouble with this and there are plenty of 5-star reviews.
This is the educational aspect to the green recycling truck: it teaches kids about recycling different objects. This is something that we do in most homes today and it creates a link between the home, the environment and the ever fascinating world of big trucks and machines.
The truck is made from recycled plastic milk jugs which is a great idea. First it’s good, of course, that they have saved energy and made the truck live up to its name by being made out of recycled materials. Second, milk jugs are made from food-safe plastic so it’s good and safe for kids.
The toy is made in the USA from 100% recycled materials using a local supply chain so it’s extremely environmentally friendly. There are no external coatings, paints or dyes. There are no metal axles either, making this a safe toy for babies. It’s recommended for age 12 months and upward.
This is a big and sturdy recycling truck that kids will love to play with. It’s great for older babies and toddlers right up to school age. It’s friendly-looking and safe too. We think it’s a good choice for your child.
