Kurio Xtreme Kids Tablet Review
The consumer’s market and technology is booming with tablets and other personal devices for work, reading, and pleasure. Although these devices may be too expensive and too delicate to hand to a child or toddler, there is a solution – tablets designed for kids. We’ve reviewed the LeapPad and Innotab kids’ tablets in the past, and today we’re looking at the latest Kurio kids tablet, the Kurio Xtreme.
The Xtreme Kurio tablet is Bluetooth accessible and works with Netflix, Youtube, and Skype, along with dual cameras and a motion sensing gaming ability. Parents can manage what kids do, for how long, and block applications for as many as eight users.
It also comes with a brightly colored silicone bumper case to help compensate for the bumps, oops, and drops. The case can also be removed to have a more sophisticated look that may be preferred by older children.
The tablet has an Intel Atom Processor, 1 GB or Ram, and a 7 inch display, weighing 4 pounds shipping weight, and runs on Android OS. Things like Cut the Rope and Spotify are preloaded for instant play and use when first taken out of the box.
The Kurio Xtreme is also designed to keep its users moving with interactive single or multiplayer games like running, swimming, skiing, and other active games. A stand is also included to help with motion dedicated games and to allow for there to be no need for controllers.
It comes with a Genius Internet Filter System, which scans through potentially harmful websites, and anything that is not age appropriate – constantly protecting your child while they access the internet. You can also manage and control how much time each user profile is allowed to access the internet! Great for those who did their chores (longer time), and those who just need to finish their homework (perhaps an hour or two).
You can purchase unique exercise and learning applications through the online Kurio Store, or you can even download from Google Play Store. On the negative side, some tablets were reported to run at a slow pace. This may just have been a few faulty tablets and if you have this problem, it’s best to return it.
Another bonus, is that you get many applications and games for free, thus making the device worth its slightly larger price tag and a fabulous gift for children and the parents because they aren’t making a ton of extra purchases.
The tablet is intended for children ages 5-12. However, it is safety approved for children as young as 3 years old. The high quality and duo cameras allow optimum camera use for chatting, photos, and recordings.
The Kurio Xtreme device is a premium options for children to learn, exercise, and explore while remaining safe. If you want to give your kids what they really want and need right now, but want it also to grow with them and last more than a couple years, then the Kurio Xtreme could be your device!
