Nerf N-strike Elite Nerf Cam ECS-12 Blaster Review (Hasbro) Our rating:
The Nerf N-strike Elite Cam ECS-12 allows you to shoot darts at targets up to 85 feet away, but that’s not the best part. This latest Nerf blaster has an onboard camera that you can shoot videos and pictures with.
The only possible drawback is its rather hefty price tag. Should you purchase it? Let’s see what other buyers had to say about it.

Nerf N-strike Elite Cam ECS-12 Blaster Review
Although it was created by Parker Brothers in the 1970s, the Nerf toy brand is now owned by Hasbro. What began with toy footballs and basketballs quickly expanded into guns. If you have a son, whether he is 3 or 23, then you probably know just how much they love Nerf blasters. The Nerf N-strike Elite Cam ECS-12 is one of their newest guns and there is no doubt that this is the best Nerf gun to date.
Nerf blaster fans will be familiar with the Nerf Elite foam dart guns the company has been making for years. These missiles feature soft foam tips that can travel a good distance and shouldn’t cause any damage. (That is as long as your kids don’t fire it directly into someone’s face.) Designed for kids over the age of 8, Nerf guns offer a realistic shooting experience that is plenty of fun, but without the destruction and chaos that can occur when solid projectiles are fired at this speed.
Of course, the Nerf N-strike Elite Cam ECS-12 blaster adds an amazing new twist: a built in camera that lets you record all the action and fun with photos and videos. On the gun, there is a small (1.7 inch) viewing screen, so you can see where the camera is aimed. Simply turn on the camera, set it to video or photo mode, and press the button to start recording or snap a picture.
The Nerf Cam ECS-12 has been specifically designed to function as a one handed blaster allowing your other hand to stay free and operate the camera. A 4 GB SD memory card is included to store video clips and pictures. It can easily be loaded into your tablet or computer to save and share your favorite moments from the day.
Shooting the Nerf N-strike Elite Cam ECS-12 is just what you would expect from Nerf’s best and latest guns. It includes a clip of 12 darts (more can be purchased separately and you will need them because they do get lost). They can be shot one by one or in an accelerated mode for motorized blasting.
According to reviewers, the only thing they did not like was the noise made by the motor. Otherwise, it is a well designed Nerf camera gun. The motor can be heard in video clips and it makes it more difficult to sneak up on people. However, this may be a feature that safety conscious parents like and your pets are sure to appreciate the warning.
The darts are the regular old Nerf Elite foam tipped projectiles. More than likely, you already have a few around the house. If not, order more! For safety reasons, parental supervision is recommended. The gun requires 8 AA batteries, 4 for the camera and 4 for the motor on the gun. If you want to save money, it’s a good idea to purchase rechargeable batteries.
This gun is tons of fun and having the ability to film your games and battles is definitely a huge bonus. Be sure to look out for deals at Amazon through the link below – you might be able to get something off the retail price.
