7 Wonders Board Game Review
The goal of the 7 Wonders board game is to raise a complete civilization around one of the greatest wonders of the world. Each player will have a chance to become a leader of one of the seven ancient world cities. Each player will be given the same task in gathering various resources and creating routes to gain commercial access to define that player as a military leader.
To create the ancient world, every player will have the opportunity to pick 1 card that will match his or her goals. When the player has chosen a card, the pack of cards will then be passed to the next player so that they can also pick one. It’s a fast paced game that will keep everyone engaged.
It’s designed for 3-7 players but it is possible to play with only two if you set up one “dummy” player. It’s best to get familiar with the game before trying this. It’s also possible to play with more than 7 players if you get an expansion pack.
One thing to be aware of with this board game is the thin cards which can be easily damaged. To avoid their being damaged due to frequent play, you can buy card sleeves or have each card laminated to make them longer lasting.
Another thing to be aware of with this board game is the rulebook. There are some people who have commented that the rulebook is not written well which has lead them to playing the game incorrectly. However, as with any board game, you can set up your own “family rules”. You can also search online to find authoritative interpretations of the rules.
All in all, this is not one of those board games that will bore you because the games seem to take hours and hours. Most games will be take between 30 to 60 minutes, that’s all. It also stays interesting time after time because of the different strategies and goals that you can choose in each round. It is great for kids to play with siblings, friends or as a whole family.
